Art criminals. Inigo Philbrick, who swindled clients out of millions, is out of prison and making a serious comeback with a Vanity Fair interview, book in production and a forthcoming documentary series on his misadventures. Very Anna Sorokin vibes. If you can’t wait for his story, feel free to read The Art Theif by Michael Finkel — I devoured it while in Europe and highly reccomend you do too.
The Venice Biennial is in full swing, with mixed reviews. If you are in the swimming city before November you must check it out. (And I'm more than happy to chat suggestions of what to see, just send me a note.)

While artworks were covered in the main part of this newsletter, I’m highly recommending a visit to three Copenhagen museums. The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art and ARKEN Museum of Contemporary Art museums just out of the city center are not to be missed. While the Louisianna has an incredible collection of modern art housed in an impressive space with flanking gardens, the travelling exhibition of Firelei Báez was stunning. The lesser-known ARKEN had a great Anish Kapoor survey. It felt pretty special to be among such monumental works that are rarely installed and seen together. If you don’t want to train, Copenhagen Contemporary is closer to downtown and has some great programming, including a mystifying James Turrell installation. However, on my most recent visit, I was particularly keen on Kapwani Kiwanga’s takeover of the main space.
Frieze, NADA, Future Fair and Independent are taking over New York City this week and next. If you are in town for the fairs tell me what you’re liking!
👋 Parting Words…
I love sharing new art discoveries and thinking about making something like this a regular occurrence — what do you think? Are painting round-ups fun or boring?
Until next time…
