Thrilled to be hitting your inboxes a little earlier than usual this month to write about my day job as VP of Art @ Peggy. Also excited to share that the app is now LIVE 📱 — download it here, peggy.com/app, and use code BRONWYN for access.
🌊 Deep Dive: Who is Peggy?
This year has been a big one for Peggy — we closed a round of fundraising, grew our team significantly, launched in the app store, have a rapidly growing selection of amazing artworks and galleries live now in the app, welcomed initial collectors, and have already found homes for several incredible artworks.
Why am I personally excited about Peggy? If you have been on this mailing list for any amount of time, I am sure it has become clear that I am over-the-top passionate about contemporary art — making it more approachable and bringing new collectors into the fold. The art industry, however, has been pretty far behind any other in terms of technological adoption, but not for lack of trying. Part of what makes art so special, the storytelling and humans behind it, is often irreverently cut out of technological solutions.
I am proud to share that Peggy takes the opposite approach, bringing community and social elements to an online platform while simplifying the transaction and administrative side with a thoughtful and innovative leveling-up through technology (think shipping coordination, payment processing, and authentication). I truly believe that the access, storytelling, and transparency Peggy provides will welcome new collectors while simultaneously honoring the critical role galleries play in supporting and fostering an artist’s career.

With that being said, I have so loved being able to connect with (and in many cases visit) so many impressive gallerists from New York to Basel, Switzerland and learn about their artists, programs, and messages they promote.
Learning about, experiencing, and/or purchasing contemporary art not only supports culture and cultural production, but I believe it creates more empathetic and open-minded individuals. I am so excited to share this art world with others via Peggy, as contemporary art serves as the best mirror, in my opinion, of what it means to be a human.
Curious to learn more about Peggy and hear from its founders (and me!), take a listen to our conversation with Monocle below.
P.S. if you are still wondering who Peggy is, well, it may be a nod to one of the most innovative collectors of all time, Peggy Guggenheim.

Remember the iconic Art Basel Banana by Maurizio Cattelan from a few years ago? Well that same gallery, Perrotin, was at it again with a different artist from their roster: the prankster collective MSCHF. If you were on social media earlier this month I am almost certain you would not have missed their clever ATM. A true highlight of the fair for me personally.
Books about historically-over-looked women. Need a last-minute holiday gift? I am eyeing Katy Hessel’s "The Story of Art without Men” and Phaidon’s Great Women Painters.

Hope you all enjoy falling in love with some new art on Peggy. Also, be sure to tune in to next month’s edition as I’ll be creating a different little highlight reel of 2022 and a not-to-miss wishlist for 2023 (can’t believe it 🤯).
